State Senate
Welcome to Employment Law Crash Course for Colorado's Small Businesses. This business/legislative partnership came out of an idea I had during the 2009 legislative session. As we were reviewing the authority of the Colorado Civil Rights Division, we realized that there was a shortage of small business owners knowing the legalities of civil rights for both employers and employees in Colorado. Coming from business and employee development, I suggested that a lack of training was one of the causes. So with a shortage of state resources and with over 85% of Colorado business being small employers, I was compelled to gather a network of human resource and employment law professionals to voluntarily train the small business owners.
After all, it’s the small employers who can’t afford the human resources departments or even an HR staff member most often. So, here for you is a free training in civil rights in the Colorado workplace. After this session, you will be able to:
Implement equal opportunity practices that are respectful and lawful
Identify work-related civil rights challenges and solutions
Protect yourself and your employees from unlawful discrimination
Identify when you need to ask a professional for advice
Thank you for your critical contributions to the Colorado economy and your local community. I hope this unique collaborative program helps you succeed in your business with one less worry in these tough times. As you may know already, fostering a civil, respectful workplace creates happier and more productive employees, which, in turn, strengthens your bottom line. Good luck in your business ventures!
